The Ambrosia Literary Agency is fully committed to guiding you through all of the steps necessary, if you are to become a published author or illustrator. From inception to fruition, we will work with you according to your needs and level of comfort. We provide support and have access to the necessary resources that help ensure your success as a writer.
The Ambrosia Literary Agency has many services which we are able to provide for free and there are those for which we must charge a fee.
We charge no fee for the initial reading and review of your submission. Our services are very extensive and they lay the groundwork for the future plans and goals in our partnership. Your manuscript WILL BE READ!
Free services
Traditional literary agencies provide agent representation and have commission-based agreements with their authors. If we accept your manuscript for agent representation, we do not charge any fees for reading, critiquing, or editing and you will be presented with a contract that outlines our mutual partnership and is tailored to fit each client.
Services with fees
We often encounter situations where adjustments to manuscripts can vastly increase marketability and overall quality of the work. If this is the case, we will give our honest, professional opinion, but the writer is under no obligation to hire us for any editing or adjustments. Seeking other editors is fine.
After editing, resubmission to Ambrosia is acceptable and may or may not lead to Agent representation. We do offer editing services. Editing services extend to writings outside the genres we typically represent. Our editing can greatly help if the writer has goals beyond the scope of traditional agency representation. These modifications or services may include:
Substantive/Content Editing
Character development
Plot development and flow
Research: Scientific, Period, etc.
Ghost Writing or Co-Authoring
Aid with Query letters, Book Proposals, Synopsis, etc.
Design and Illustration
While it is the policy of the Ambrosia Literary Agency to remain committed to the process of traditional publishing, we do have the ability to facilitate self-publishing or e-book publishing, should it be determined that would be a more beneficial step at this stage of your career. Our Agency maintains contacts throughout both the traditional and nontraditional spectrum of publishing. This gives our authors a distinct edge when seeking to be published since we are the openers of doors, whether paper or digital.

We are not your average literary agency.
At Ambrosia, we view our agent/author relationship as a partnership. We work with the writer to prepare and submit their book or novel to editors for publication, walking with them through the entire process including rights and contract negotiations.
If you have an idea for a story, but are unsure where to start or need help writing, we can help bring your story to life. Fiction and Non-fiction are welcome. We also have special services for those working on memoirs, autobiographies, or personal projects.
Do you have a manuscript that needs polished? We can do an editorial assessment of your writing to suggest the type of editing that is needed such as: developmental editing, substantive editing, copyediting, or proofreading.
Are you a business that needs help creating a magazine or newsletter? Are you considering self-publishing, an e-book, or seeking an illustrator? Ambrosia can help you format and design materials for your business, book or novel. We also work closely with illustrators who can bring your storybook to life.

Our first choice is always to try and match your work with the needs of a traditional publishing house. However, with the constantly evolving publishing industry comes new opportunities, such as self-publishing and e-books. We can help you choose an option that is right for you.
There are many talented writers with excellent and marketable novels which are close to perfect and ready for submission. These are the rare few and exceptions to the norm.
Most of the books we encounter are still in need of some editing, plot evolution, character development, and a unique and hypnotic tone which sets the intended mood and scene for the reader.
Each member of our team is a professional writer with the skill and experience needed to guide you and with enough respect for your work to not be overwhelming. We can provide basic editing, become the muse you need when the words won’t come, or lead you to safety when your own plot twists turn against you. We can help you get back on track and back to your job; which is writing.
Ambrosia wants to assist you in making yours the book you WANTED to write, so don't settle for less than your best finished product before approaching publishers.
At Ambrosia, we believe that real communication and understanding between clients and mentors is best achieved face to face and we prefer to make appointments virtually. Other arrangements, such as consultation by phone or email, can be made if necessary. Any fees, if applicable, will be discussed when we reply to your request for an appointment. You will NOT be charged for any service you don't specifically request.
You will never learn more about becoming an author than you will by working with one. You will never learn the intricacies of publishing from someone not involved in publishing.
