The Ambrosia Literary Agency was founded in Mount Vernon, Ohio in 2010. It was conceived while we volunteered for a local art league that focused on fine arts joined with a small group of local writers and poets. It became apparent that there was a need to encourage and guide new writers, poets, and aspiring authors who needed help navigating the often difficult and complicated publishing process. It was this need that led to the founding of Ambrosia.
Ambrosia began as a simple service to help writers to edit, format and polish their manuscripts prior to submission, helping them to achieve their goals.
As we rebrand, evolving and offering new services as the publishing industry evolves, we hope we will stand as a beacon of Light and Hope for the many talented writers and illustrators out there who seek guidance. A lot of times, a little guidance is all you need!
Ambrosia is the Nectar of the Gods, a substance so sweet that they bathed in it and used it for aromatic oils and perfumes. So rare and so sacred was Ambrosia that mortals were forbidden to eat or drink of it, upon penalty of death. Still, the golden-amber substance that shone with its own Light and bestowed eternal gifts still beckoned to many brave, adventurous souls, driving them to seek that purest of Nectar and taste of Knowledge and Wisdom, experiencing a joy that never ends.
We recognize that books deliver the same gifts of Knowledge and Wisdom, that they are an eternally intoxicating source of joy and offer welcome respite from the mundane world. Well-woven words which compel us to read at the deepest level of consciousness, awakening the archetypes within the subconscious, are, quite simply, magic. It is the Alchemical equivalent of creating the Philosopher's Stone. Every author is a Rumpelstiltskin, locked away in a dark chamber spinning Inspiration into gold.
Everyone at Ambrosia is an artist. We write, we paint, we work with stained glass, and we love the Traditional Arts. We are people who understand the impact that art has on society, culture, and the collective unconscious that connects us all. To us, good literature is that which takes the mind to strange places on fantastic journeys. Writing is a truly Divine process of creation, a taste of Ambrosia for the thirsty mortals seeking the haunting, mind bending Ambrosia of the Gods and Goddesses.
We chose this name to Honor the Gods and Goddesses, the Heroes of our story (the authors!), and the beauty, sacredness, and potential and Hope that abides in the written word. It is our hope that this is a message of inspiration and encouragement, both for those who have already discovered their voices and for those who will.
We exist to support the literary arts, helping writers and illustrators on their journey to publication.
Our mission is to identify talented authors and guide them to successful careers by forming a partnership that allows artistic involvement, expression, and evolution.
While we do favor Horror, the Supernatural, and Fantasy or Romantasy, we will look at books of other genres, especially those that are cross-genre and difficult to quantify.
Mistress of Tomes and Spells (Agent)
Lady Ambrosia, born Tara Severance, embodies the spirit of the Renaissance woman. She has a degree in Studio Art, Biology minor, from the College of Wooster, and studied abroad in Italy through the University of Georgia: Lamar Dodd School of Art. She earned a Certificate in Publishing from the University of Denver Publishing Institute.
She is creative and imaginative, drawn to the mystical and whimsical, fantastical and supernatural. You will often find her sipping tea and lost in her own musings; reading, painting, gazing at the stars and moon, or dreaming of places where magic exists.
Her favorite novels include Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and anything she can find about Alchemy. She is also a Potterhead. She finds Edward Gorey's macabre illustrations delightful.
Master Weaver of Tales and Words (Editor)
Lord Anathema is the product of a by-gone era, a rogue and rapscallion who has seen a great deal of the World, both its beauty and the horrors it contains. His interesting and unusual life experiences, combined with a Comprehensive Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Psychology, Sociology minor (cum laude) from Ashland University makes him a valuable asset.
For him, one of the most influential works of "horror" is Clive Barker's Imajica. He is equally drawn to the fantasy works of David Eddings starting with The Belgariad and The Malloreon.
He enjoys riding horses and playing Dungeons and Dragons (3.0 edition ONLY).
The Ambrosia Literary Agency is an innovative and unique agency designed specifically to serve the needs of new and unpublished authors. In an industry that all too often ignores writers who are not yet published, we are the exception. We know that there are many talented authors who remain unpublished simply because the process is so unnecessarily difficult and daunting.

The Ambrosia Literary Agency will assess your work, discuss the genre in which it most closely fits, and find the submission and publishing options that are best for you. We can provide Editing and Consultation services for works planned or in progress. We are equipped to guide and support you through the entire journey to becoming a Published Author. In fact, our only real purpose is to offer you the necessary support to make your dream of becoming a published author come true.
The Ambrosia Literary Agency is a small, close knit agency, devoted to discovering new talent and helping to launch successful writing careers.
We view our relationships with clients as partnerships, understanding that our role is always offering the best guidance and necessary services, while zealously protecting and promoting our authors. It is our responsibility to work closely with the author, ensuring that their vision is realized and to ensure the best possible outcome for the author.
What we are looking for:
Fiction
We primarily represent authors who write books of Horror, the Supernatural, and Fantasy or the now trending Romantasy. We realize that these flow into many subgenres and trending movements within the industry, so we take a broad view of the submissions we are willing to read.
Nonfiction
We are interested in books on the topics of Religion, Philosophy, Parapsychology, Healing, and the Occult and Western Esoteric Traditions.
Illustrators
Not only do we have a passion for good books, but we also have a passion for fine arts and illustrations. We represent illustrators seeking to expand into the publishing market.
We are not just in the business of horror, but we are true fans of it. We love everything that goes bump in the night and we take every opportunity to search out things that might scare us. We take an adventurous approach to both life and to business, daring to go where many other might fear to tread. Other agencies are looking for authors who have been published or have a million social media followers, but all we are looking for is a manuscript that is horrifying beyond measure."

The Ambrosia Literary Agency joined the Horror Writers Association as an Associate member in 2025. The HORROR WRITERS ASSOCIATION (HWA) is a nonprofit organization of writers and publishing professionals around the world, dedicated to promoting dark literature and the interests of those who write it.

Lady Ambrosia recently joined the Publishing Professionals Network as an individual member. The PUBLISHING PROFESSIONALS NETWORK (PPN) is an all-volunteer 501(c)6 nonprofit association that promotes success in all aspects of book making through education, career development, and community building.
